I want to talk a little bit about relocations. So full disclosure, I love Northeast Arkansas. I've lived here in Jonesboro since I was twelve and I love it here. I was born in a very small town and moved here.
This is where I want to stay. But when you grow up in a small town, for me, 70,000 to 80,000 people is a big town where I was born, but a lot of people think of Jonesboro still as a very small town. Wonderlust is a thing I'm very familiar with. I know many, many friends who cannot wait to get out and go do bigger and better things. And so as they're looking at relocating, there's a few things that I think are important that need to happen.
As I've talked with people who have relocated here, I hear all the time how wonderful people are surprised to find out that Jonesboro is. Our little community can be a very sticky place. I say that jokingly, but it seems to be true. This is an area where people come just for a little bit, but then look around and ten years later they're still here, happy, raising families and a job that they love. So if you are considering a move somewhere else, what does that look like for you? First of all, strongly recommend that you research the area. Find out what recreation is there? What are the schools like there? What are the things that match up with the way that you do your lifestyle? Set up a reconnaissance trip, go to that area and find out, is this somewhere I want to go? Go at different times of the year. I can assure you places far up north are very different in February than they are in May.
Truth be told, moving is expensive, it's not cheap, and cost of living compared to Northeast Arkansas is likely going to be quite a bit higher wherever it is that you're headed, hopefully your income makes a difference. But at the end of the day, a house that you're looking at buying here is normally going to be quite a bit less than one that you're looking at in one of these bigger Wonderlust type cities. So keep that in mind. Don't ignore family or significant others. If your wife has bigger plans or your husband, your family have bigger plans and they're not too excited about the move, please pay attention to that stuff.
Also, the biggest thing is okay, what about finding a home? How on Earth do we manage selling one house and moving to another? Things like bridge loans are excellent opportunities for you to have the maximum flexibility between selling a home here in Jonesboro and moving somewhere else. Also, you've hopefully found an agent that you love here. Well, how are you going to find someone in I don't know, Topeka? Make sure we get together, team you up with an agent who knows that you trust and can help you find exactly what it is that you're looking for to meet your goals, let's chat. If you're thinking about moving off, I'm going to try to talk you out of it. No, I'm just kidding. But I do love this area and I want to see you succeed wherever it is that you end up.
