Home warranty plans are marketed as a way to help protect yourself against costly repairs after you've purchased your home. These can be negotiated to be paid for by the seller or paid for by the buyer, oftentimes up to 60 days after you close on your home at a discounted rate.
Now, I strongly recommend that you do your research on these. Not all companies are created equally, and I've heard some really mixed reviews on whether or not it's a good idea to have one or not. So talk with friends or family who might have taken advantage of it. Check out online reviews, do your own research, but make sure you talk through whether or not this might be a good idea for you.
